Ange Takats is an Australian writer and musician. She was born in Papua New Guinea and grew up in Brisbane, Australia. Ange is of mixed heritage, with a Papua New Guinean mother and an Australian father, and her writing and music often explore issues of identity, culture, and place.
Ange's writing has been featured in a variety of publications, including The Australian, The Griffith Review, and The Best Australian Essays. She is also the author of a memoir, "The Coconut Children," which explores her childhood in Papua New Guinea and her family's experience of displacement and migration.
As a musician, Ange is known for her soulful voice and original songs that blend folk, blues, and Pacific Islander influences. She has released several albums, including "Arva," "Mystery," and "Emigrant's Daughter." Her music has been featured on Australian radio and television, and she has performed at festivals and venues across Australia, as well as in the United States and Europe.
Ange is also an advocate for environmental and social justice issues, and she has worked with organizations such as Greenpeace and Oxfam. She currently lives in Queensland, Australia, where she continues to write and perform music.
