The Canal des Houillères de la Sarre, commonly known as the Saar Canal, is a picturesque waterway in northeastern France that connects the Marne-Rhine Canal at Gondrexange to the Saar River at Sarreguemines, near the German border.  Originally built to transport coal from the Saar region, it has since become a popular route for boating enthusiasts and tourists exploring the scenic landscapes of Lorraine.
