Neeltje Jans is a small island located in the southwestern part of the Netherlands, in the province of Zeeland. The island is man-made and was created as part of the Delta Works project, a large-scale engineering project designed to protect the Dutch coastline from flooding.
Neeltje Jans is home to a popular water park and theme park called Delta Park Neeltje Jans, which includes a variety of water-related attractions such as a water playground, water slide, and aquarium. The island is also known for its natural beauty, with miles of sandy beaches and dunes that are popular with tourists and locals alike.
In addition to its recreational activities, Neeltje Jans also serves an important role in the protection of the Dutch coastline. The island features a large storm surge barrier, which helps to prevent flooding and protects the surrounding area from the strong North Sea tides. The barrier is one of the largest engineering projects in the world and is considered a key component of the Netherlands' flood protection system.
