Brèche de Roland, also known as Roland's Breach in English, is a natural gap located in the Pyrenees mountain range on the border of France and Spain. The gap measures about 40 meters wide and 100 meters deep, and it was created by a glacier during the last Ice Age. According to local legend, the gap was created by the knight Roland, who is said to have used his sword to cleave the mountain in two while fighting the Muslim army of Saragossa. The gap offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, and it is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers. The Brèche de Roland is also a key feature in the legend of the Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage route that passes through the region.
