Paris 5e arrondissement (5th arrondissement) is one of the 20 administrative districts of Paris, located on the Left Bank of the Seine River. It is known for its historical landmarks, lively student atmosphere, and vibrant Latin Quarter.
Some of the main attractions in the 5th arrondissement include the Panthéon, a grand neoclassical building that serves as a mausoleum for some of France's most famous figures; the Jardin des Plantes, a large botanical garden and natural history museum; and the Sorbonne, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe.
The Latin Quarter, which occupies much of the 5th arrondissement, is known for its narrow streets, cafes, and bookstores, as well as its large student population. The area is home to many universities, including the Sorbonne, as well as the École Normale Supérieure and the Collège de France.
Other notable sites in the 5th arrondissement include the Sainte-Geneviève Library, the Museum of the Middle Ages, and the Cluny Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery that now houses a museum of medieval art.
