The Corniche Basque, also known as the Basque Coast Road, is a scenic coastal route located in the Basque Country of southwestern France. The road stretches for approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) along the Bay of Biscay, from the town of Bidart to the city of Hendaye on the border with Spain.
The Corniche Basque offers stunning views of the coastline, with dramatic cliffs and rock formations, beautiful beaches, and charming seaside villages. Along the way, visitors can stop at a number of scenic viewpoints and beaches, including the Plage de la Milady, the Plage d'Erretegia, and the Plage d'Hendaye.
In addition to its natural beauty, the Corniche Basque is also known for its cultural and historical significance. The area is home to many historic sites and landmarks, such as the Chateau d'Abbadie, a 19th-century castle built on a cliff overlooking the sea, and the coastal town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, which was once a major fishing port and is now a popular tourist destination.
The Corniche Basque is a popular destination for visitors to the Basque Country, and is often included on guided tours or road trips through the region. Whether by car, bike, or on foot, the Corniche Basque offers a breathtaking journey through some of the most beautiful scenery in France.
