Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, also known as the White Lake, is a freshwater lake located in the Khangai Mountains of central Mongolia. The lake was formed around 8,000 years ago after a volcanic eruption in the area created a basin that eventually filled with water. The lake has a surface area of 61.1 square kilometers (23.6 square miles) and an average depth of 20 meters (66 feet). It is known for its crystal-clear blue waters and surrounding scenic landscapes. The lake is home to a variety of fish species, including lenok, grayling, and pike, and attracts a variety of birdlife, including swans, geese, and ducks. The area surrounding the lake is part of the Khorgo-Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park, which offers hiking, camping, and other outdoor recreational activities.
