Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is one of the busiest airports in the world and a major gateway to Southern California.  Located about 18 miles (30 km) southwest of downtown Los Angeles, LAX serves millions of travelers each year, connecting them to destinations across the globe.
LAX features nine terminals arranged in a U-shape, with shuttle buses connecting them. It’s a hub for major airlines like Delta, American Airlines, and United, as well as a key stop for numerous international carriers.
The airport offers a variety of dining options, from quick bites to sit-down restaurants, along with plenty of retail shops featuring everything from souvenirs to luxury brands.
LAX is one of the few airports in the world where each letter of its code stands for the city it serves.  Originally coded "LA," the "X" was added when airports switched to three-letter codes.
