Ganden is a significant monastery in Tibet. It was founded in 1409 by Je Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. Located near Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, Ganden is one of the three great monasteries of Tibet, along with Sera and Drepung. The monastery has played a crucial role in the development and spread of Tibetan Buddhism.
Ganden is known for its stunning architecture, including the main assembly hall, numerous chapels, and residences for monks. The monastery also houses valuable religious artifacts and scriptures. Throughout its history, Ganden has faced challenges, including damage during the cultural revolution in the mid-20th century, but efforts have been made to restore and preserve its cultural and spiritual significance.
